Retired County Commissioner Succumbs At 88
     
OROFINO -Thomas R. Walker, 88, Ahsahka, a long-time area resident and former Clearwater County commissioner, died Monday at 10:55 a.m. at Harmony Heights Retirement Home here.
     
Walker had been in ill health for some time. Death was attributed to infirmities of age.
     
Walker was county commissioner for 12 years from 1936 to his retirement in 1948. Previously he had farmed on a homestead near Ahsahka since 1904 when he moved to the area from New York.
     
He was born Sept. 22, 1881, in Erie County, N.Y., son of Mr. and Mrs. George Walker
     .
He married the former Eliza Holladay at Myrtle Creek, Ore., Aug. 12, 1908. She died March 22, 1953.
     
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C.V. Dodge, Ahsahka; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
     
Funeral arrangements are pending at Gilbert's Funeral Chapel, Orofino.
